Gmail Sendmail Parameter Broken

Hello All,

I recently took over Admin role for Bugzilla and have been stumped about a sudden broken email notification problem.

The deployment is setup with 'sendmail' and a gmail account that was working for sometime. So less secure apps setting is correct as well as the parameter values such as smtp server, password, etc.

However, I decided to clear/reset all the email parameters and re-enter and upon doing so I received the following error when trying to save the settings.

Software error:
Can't locate object method "quit" via package "Net::SMTP::SSL" at Bugzilla/Config/Common.pm line 370.
For help, please send mail to the webmaster (***@localhost), giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

I determined this is being thrown by the 'stmpserver' parameter as I filled all others out one by one without incident.

I also examined the mail logs and see that gmail is denying authorization with "wrong username or password" error. I can confirm username and password are correct as I logged in with them. So I assume this is due to the SSL failure.

Please help.

P.S. I have already tried the following threads.

P.S. I have already tried the following threads.
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/mozilla.support.bugzilla/I-unGWlgUDQ
Then you should be more detailed about what exactly you have tried of
that thread, because multiple instructions where given, which version
of Net::SMTP::SSL you are using, which version of other stuff related
to OpenSSL you have installed, if you used install-module.pl etc.

There's a reason why 3 people posted solutions on that thread and a
"didn't work for me" from you is not sufficient.

It might even be easier to simply use "sendmail" again, that's not
necessarily "less secure", security depends on you sendmail
implementation instead. It might simply use TLS as well.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
